Dr. Timothy Lyman was born December 8 in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up on the North Side in the Ravenswood neighborhood.As a kid he had a keen interest in science, music, and theater.

Before going to medical school he earned his masters degree in Physics.

Currently, Dr. Lyman is director of the Urgent Care Unit at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, Illinois.

Dr. Lyman has always had an interest in science and loves to travel.

He has been to Africa, but never to the Sahara. He is looking forward to "the opportunity to participate in this expedition."
